Not the best view of not arriving early in the morning but a wonderful walk back down. Catch the bus from Haputale that says Lipton’s seat on the from for 60 rupees. It drops you an easy 2 km walk from the top. Definitely the best tea plantation we visited!

Great accommodation, fantastic food, good snorkelling opportunities. At $35 pp for accommodation and 3 meals a day this place is amazing. Also Barry is great to talk to and loves travellers.

Really beautiful spot right by the entrance to Semuc Champey with great views of the river. Well priced and good value. Just of note there is only electricity from 6 to 10pm. Also if you’re ok with street food try the woman on the corner if you turn left down toward the bridge. Fantastic meals if you can look past the shack restaurant.

A must stay in Tortuguero! Great for private rooms for those on a budget $10 USD a night for each person. Run by a wonderful couple who welcomed us with cold coconuts and offered us coffee when it was raining. They were really helpful in finding us a guide and helping us organise a cheaper transfer back to Cariari than the public boat/Bus combo. Set in a lovely garden you can lie in the hammocks and watch the hummingbirds. Set just back from the beach. The guide Jungle John was also excellent and very passionate about the area!

What a beautiful town! If you want Amsterdam without the tourists come here! There's a Gouda cheese market on a Thursday which is great and check out the stroopwafel making course at a local bakery. You can get tickets at the information centre. It is in Dutch but the actual making is easy to follow without the language. If you don't know what a stroopwafel is you also must try one!!

Wow! These jars are amazing! Only 5 of the sites have been cleared for tourism as the others are still littered with unexplored ordinances left over from the illegal bombing of Laos in the Vietnam war. Nobody has been able to decipher what the jars were used for or where they come from but they are well worth the trip.

Not for the faint hearted Bangkok's Forensic Museum is an interesting off the beaten track attraction. Set in a hospital it has the mummified body of a convicted rapist, body parts in jars and a real cross section of the human body. Well worth looking at. You get there by using the local ferry system.

Find the right hostel/guesthouse to sit back and enjoy the views because they are sensational. Set within a cloud Forrest Coroico has a comfortable climate and is a good place to explore.

This is a beautiful spot to chill for a little bit. Stunning views of sunset from the rooftop bars. Also for the best local food head down to the little red shacks for fresh trout (trucha) or for vegetarians like me they do great omelettes all for 25 bolivianos. A great spot to stop either on route to San Pedro de Atacama or further into the Humahuaca region. Cute little guesthouses and restaurants. The 7 Colour Mountain walk you can do is gentle and absolutely beautiful. A nicer base than Tilcara. If you want any more info about costs and getting to Chile check out our website.
